John David’s 1st Christmas

DSC_0612

Merry Christmas! Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, we certainly did.  We had lots of fun this Christmas.  On Tuesday we took John David to the History Museum to visit Santa Claus, we had a great time, Santa spent a lot of time with the kids singing songs and telling stories, going to the museum will surely become our family tradition. DSC_0629 We headed to Grandma’s house on Christmas Eve,  John David got lots of fun toys, so many in fact that I’m pretty sure we may never have to play with the same toy twice (just kidding). The “highlight” of our night was when Granny gave everyone a $nuggie ( me and John always said we would never have one). When we got home from Grandma’s Santa got busy putting together all the toys, finally around 1:30 am we got in bed.  John David woke up bright and early, eager to see what Santa left for him, lets just say he wasn’t disappointed. Our living room looked like we robbed a toy store :) DSC_0687John David was very blessed this year with so many nice things but John and I feel like we got the best gift of all, our beautiful, healthy baby boy to share our lives with. We are so thankful we got to spend such a wonderful White Christmas with our little family.

Lets see where did I leave off? Oh yeah the snow, well its still around...... I don't think it will go away until mid summer :( Me and John made it to Roanoke this weekend for my baby shower Saturday, it was a lot of fun, and we are so thankful for great family and friends. Baby Whittaker will have a great start with all the cute clothes and accessories! I hope all the nursery items will arrive this week so I can start setting it all up. I am 33 weeks this week, baby is growing more and more everyday, I have the tummy to prove it We go back to the Dr. tomorrow, I can't wait to see how big she thinks baby will be. Also tomorrow we are hoping to take our baby essentials class so we know all the ins and outs of baby care, (John has never changed a diaper before so we could use some help) We had a great valentine's weekend, we went out to a Japanese steakhouse with my family on Saturday night, very yummy and on valentines day, John woke up to a surprise waiting for him on his pillow ( a new watch and box of chocolates) he was very surprised. The rest of the day included a valentine's party with lots of fun games, a drive back home and a romantic dinner at McDonald's :) John gave me the sweetest cards and the most adorable outfit for Baby Whittaker (and 2 swaddling blankets.) I will post more pictures of the baby shower as soon as my computer decides to cooperate. Well I'm off to go pick up my crib at Pottery Barn Kids!

8 more weeks to go! Wow how time flies! We met our new Doctor this past week and we really like her so thats great news, we go back to the Dr. on Tuesday for our next check up. Baby Whittaker is growing more and more
as you can tell by my growing tummy. We finally ordered all of our nursery items (well most of them) we picked different bedding than the one I featured on our last post

I can't wait for it to arrive..... The past week has been crazy, we got 36 inches of snow on Saturday

and after digging out of that for the past week we are currently getting another foot of snow as we speak, me and John are definitely ready for spring! John's enjoying the snow a little more than me I guess, he has gotten two "snow days" in the past week so he doesn't think its too bad haha. Hopefully the snow will pass though and we will be able to make it back to Roanoke for my baby shower this weekend. Well I guess thats all I can think of for now.

This is the crib bedding we are thinking about for Baby Whittaker :) What do you think?

We finally ordered our crib this week! I know its a different picture from last week but after we went to Pottery Barn I decided I liked this one better. I can't wait to start putting Baby's room together! Only 9 more weeks to go!!!!! John made it home safe and sound from Nebraska (a day late), I'm glad he got home before the 8 or so inches of snow we got yesterday! The weather guy really got it wrong, we were only forcasted to get 1 inch, so stocking up on groceries didn't seem so important at the time, lol now we are living off of freezer items :) We are going to see if we can make it out of our driveway and do a little bit of shopping today. Hopefully all of this now will melt so I can drive to my Doctor appointment on Tuesday. I guess thats all for now.

The end of another week...... This past week we really didn't do anything exciting, we finished up unpacking and enjoyed just spending time at the house. I ventured out oneday this week on my own and did a little bit of shopping (I didn't get lost!)Next week for us is going to be pretty busy on Tuesday, John goes to Ainsworth, Nebraska for work, he is going to freeze....its supposed to be about 8 degrees at night and low 20's during the day so climbing on the wind turbines will not be fun at that temperature. Then on Friday or Saturday we are heading to Roanoke to finish packing up our garage and fixing up the house. So anyhow, today we went and looked at baby furniture, we traveled about an hour and a half to go to a big baby super center but when we got there we were disappointed to find out that it takes 10-14 weeks to order any of their furniture..... so that won't work considering that baby will be here in about 10 weeks :( But on a good note I was able to find similar cribs online that I can order and receive in about a week. I can't believe baby will be here in 10 short weeks, we are so excited to meet Baby Whittaker!!!!
This is a picture of the crib we like which really surprises me because I thought I would like something much more traditional or rustic. Leave me a comment to let me know what you think! Well the brownies are ready so I gotta go get one while they are hot!

So its been 2 weeks since we moved into our new home (more pictures to come soon!) We are finally getting settled and into a routine (sort of). John started his new job last Monday! He really likes it and might get to travel to Nebraska next week if the weather holds out, so thats exciting, we are so blessed by this great opportunity and can't believe how quickly everything has come together for us. Baby Whittaker is 3lbs now according to the baby book! Only 10 1/2 more weeks to go! Last weekend we took our childbirth class, the hospital was very nice and seems like a great place to meet Baby Whittaker. I go for my next Dr's appointment February 2nd, at which time we will meet our new Doctor, hopefully all will go well with that, we met another couple at the class who have the same Dr and they really like her so thats a good sign. Grace and Mollie really like our new house, they have a blast running up and down the stairs and sitting in the window seats, they can't wait till we get their fence fixed so they can play outside all day. Well thats all for now I guess.
Much Love,
Christine
